Pub reviews. Ongoing Update, Check Back often...

I'm working on a project, the goal is to find the best pubs where I live. I might extend the criteria to include cafes but for now I;m busy enough with Pubs. When I find a pub I enter I ask what they serve and try to get a feel for the place. A lot of places really don't have time to spend talking to people who might promote the pub in any way shape or form. I'm not looking for much, all I want is somewhere that serves more than 2 beers. If it's brewed on site as an independent business than all the better. I'm going to make a map of all the cities I visit in the UK, I live in Derby now but London might be a good visit. So Derby is looking quite healthy but There is a pub in construction; the Old Bell on Iron Gate I think that is currently being refurbished and is owned by the owner of the Sandlergate Cafe but that should be a great one when i's open but doesn't really have the history of others like the Dolphin. Note that I'm making this review as inependent as possible, if I get anything wrong let me know. The Dolphin is good but only had a choice of 2 ales to try, admittedly they had to be served by a jug from the basement but it was very tasty and a fine brew all the same. I would venture out of Derby to Nottingham but there's plenty of pubs in Derby to keep you going most of the time...
